Definitely not Asperger's Syndrome!

My XN was initially told by his doctor that he might have Asperger's Syndrome. The psychologist he was referred to after told him she didn't think it was AS.

However, believing this to be true, in the meantime, he and I both researched AS and he found a leaflet from the Asperger's Syndrome Foundation that had this quote on it:

"Tony Attwood has described Asperger's Syndrome as:

"a different way of approaching life, one that is dominated by the pursuit of knowledge and truth".

XN e-mailed me when he found this to say that this quote summed up how he'd been feeling since he was about 8 years old (came across the e-mail in work today whilst deleting some old messages).

Now....I'm not a psychologist but I think there's a certain amount of irony in him saying that, in him even having chosen to have the Chinese character for "truth" tattooed on his arm when he 21, and yet being incapable of telling the truth about anything even down to the price of his £15 a pair socks.

The leaflet also has some positive traits associated with AS. These are:

Honesty
Reliability
Dedication
Determination

So I think I can conclude fairly safely that XN did not suffer from Asperger's Syndrome, although my therapist seems to think he may have mild AS!
